I over heard this in the kitchen yesterday:
"I need to lose some teeth. I'm almost all out of money".
Say What?
Haven't we had this conversation before? Losing teeth and getting money for them is a little bonus, not the way to "make" money. We must WORK for our money.
The pep talk went in one ear and out the other, apparently.
I get it, I do. Who wants to work when there is a steady supply of cash from a natural process?
Too bad we only get TWO sets and one isn't supposed to just fall out. :)
I'm also thinking the tooth fairy over pays my children.
But that's just me.

My middle child has ripped out teeth that weren't even close to ready to come out yet!! But then the jokes on her, because the tooth fairy here as a very short memory and sometimes takes a few days to get here! lol
Now that is funny! I never thought of loosing teeth as a way to replenish my bank account. How much are these kids getting??? Maybe I should lose a couple of teeth before the holidays!
Little capitalist! That's so funny. I wonder if mine will think of that when it's time for her teeth to start falling out. And remember when a quarter was a lot for a tooth? Yeah, not so much anymore. My oldest had to have one of her teeth pulled for dental reasons and expected a dollar for it.
Yeah sounds like they could be getting a little much.
I got 20c per tooth and the bigs ones I got 50c.
I'm assuming they're getting more than that?
haha, losing teeth to make money. you gotta love how all of those well voiced parenting lessons seem to fall on deaf ears. lather, rinse, repeat. story of my life :)
i totally agree... the tooth fairy is a sucker. AND she never seems to have change... only big bills. that has resulted in my boys being very spoiled by her. thank goodness all the teeth have been lost in our house. the kids have begun to look for other ways to hustle.
Yeah, my oldest ripped his second tooth out after making $$ with the first. The Tooth Fairy left a note with a quarter that said she didn't pay for teeth that weren't "ripe."
Stinker!
That's funny. I don't think I have ever heard my son say that! He knows he only has to do chores and he could have a decent amount of moolah! He wont even do those for money!!!
Over pays... no way!! LOL At least he is learning though. I have a three old and he knows the difference between a 5 dollar bill and a 20 dollar bill.
♥ Too funny! :)
I should tell my husband when I get dentures (it's inevitable) that I want money for each tooth pulled....:)
This really made me laugh... You have smart kids...
At least he's making a buck. The Oldest just keeps wiggling his so he can be "first" on the tooth chart at kindergarten.
I need to harness that competitive drive! Talk about making a buck.
Em
Hehe! I felt the same way when I was little : ) The problem is, I don't actually recall ever receiving money for my teeth..
How much do you pay? I may be willing to part with a few of mine. I have been wanting these new boots :)
That's it. I'm giving my son books for his teeth. Or some random fruit.
I'm thinking that the tooth fairy only paid me about .50 cents. I guess with inflation he hands out way more now! Kids are not dumb, that's for sure.
LOL too funny, the two littles were saving up for something and were within a few dollars of their goal and I heard them plotting how one could get one out that day and the other the next... wanting them not to rip their teeth out for no good reason sucker mommy paid the difference.
Yeah, kids are alot more savvy than I was that's for sure.
I once told my parents I didn't need them. I had lots of teeth to lose and money to make!
That is funny! Oh my what I have to look forward to. Ryder is now trying to go to the bathroom a million times a day just to get a treat. We've cut back on the treats now. Ha! Ha! We were overpaying him in candy FOR SURE!
That's hysterical.
When my sister lost her very first tooth we were visiting relatives in Canada. Every single adult there was afraid all the others would forget, so they left "a little something". Little stinker made $14(!) on that one tooth and then went home and told all her friends that they should go to Canada when they lose a tooth because the tooth fairy there is rich!
Funny! I heard the same comment from my kids when they were younger:)
oh so that is how to make some extra cash, I will have to make an appointment to have some teeth pulled. j/k ;)
ohhh is that how it's done? dang it, I knew there had to be an easier way!! haha!
man kids must be making some money these days! I got like two quarters for a tooth!
not such a bad thought...especially if the tooth fairy lays down some bucks!
ah ha! And when you're an adult, losing teeth is a sure way to get painkillers.
Mine is overpaid also; talk about inflation. If the tooth fairy were to leave HIM a dollar, he would revolt. These days they want a gift basket for a lost tooth.
That is too funny! And smart, LOL!
That is too funny..what do teeth go for these days?! I can only imagine!!
Maybe you've got some little businessmen/women on your hands! That's funny!
Angie, that is hysterical. Love overhearing those conversations. lol. Rhonda, I can relate. DH and I are the worst tooth fairies EVER and we need to be sent to tooth fairy jail - comes with working opposite shifts - tooth lost on his shift, money given on my shift or vice versa - communication. lol. When we forget, we are greeted with a sobbing child in the morning about how the tooth fairy didn't come, then while one of us comforts the devastated child, the other runs to the room to randomly place the money (which is more due to guilt and no change) to call the child in with a "You silly goose! It must have fallen down and it was right HERE the whole time!" We've improved over the years, but we still have slip ups.
I've seen them hanging out at the dental offices begging for extras...
You must pay a whole lot more than we did!
my son just lost his tooth last night!!
He has 3 more loose ones.
he lost his top outer one because he ground down the top front ones grinding so they are half their normal size and they won't come out...so hopefully now that the side ones are coming out they will!
he will soon have no teeth on top! and be the richer for it!
When I tell my kids that I don't have money they just want me to take it out of the money making box (the ATM). I guess the tooth fairy at least gets something for it.
Ha! Sounds like a great "temp" job! ha!
I think it's great that people still keep traditions aka the tooth fairy, etc.
:) rock on with your toothless kids!
I read recently on an old room mates blog (got to love facebook) she gives her kids $20 for teeth! Imagine that!
I used to get 25 cents/tooth back in the day. My children are not of teeth-losing age, but my second grade students were. They would often come to school boasting of 1 dollar-5 dollar gifts from the fairy! I would always retort, "I want YOUR tooth fairy! Mine was cheap!" :)
I kid you not, my brother and I would knock the teeth out of our head that were not even loose yet, all in an effort to raise our cash reserves for the purpose of purchasing new bikes.
I believe it's called entrepreneurialism....
;o)
Blessings!
Ha, ha ha ha....very funny...that really cracked me up! What is she saving up for?
Well, at least they have learned how to "make" their own money, huh??
too funny! i had guy friends in college who lost/donated things when they were low for cash. i won't go into details....
That is funny Angie. I can't even imagine when Joey starts losing teeth.
Oh yeah. Mine wants to yank hers out to buy candy.
LOL
That was hilarious! I would love to be a fly on your wall somedays!
LOL! I accused my youngest of yanking out her teeth so she could get money from the tooth fairy.
Tooth fairy must be paying more these days than it was when I was a kid.....now I really feel old!!
Hah! I am SO not there yet with my 5yo. Which reminds me, I better make his 1st ever dentist appt. Too cute Angie!!!!
I can just see them punching each other in the mouth for cash.
My Princess is a chicken; she has a tooth hanging by a thread now but she won't pull it out.
Ah yes, the over-indulgent tooth-fairy. I've heard of her before, unfortunately no tooth-fairies are allowed here...only tooth-STUDS. LOL.
Now, that is FUNNY! I am sitting here LOL. How smart are they, do you think they'll grow up to be bankers?
Just found your blog. Love it! I'd love for you to stop by mine sometime.
Happy WW! Wonderful story & photo...
I invite your blog readers to see America's First Family!
YES WE CAN!
Villager
our tooth fairy overpays also. lucky for her she gets a little break between the 9-yo and 2-yo. but with inflation who knows what she will have to leave then.
That is too funny! I would like a little extra shoe money....hmmmmmm. Nah, I think I'll keep my teeth.
My parents never started this tradition. It is a good thing too. I would have bled them dry!
I wish I had some teeth to give! We use to get a quarter or a toothbrush---and now it's at least a dollar! Sometimes, I could REALLY use a dollar, ya know :) ?!
I am sorry, but that is hillarious. It is proof that the tooth fairy is a lot more kind to our children then it was to us yeah? I say that because my daughter wiggled out her tooth that wasn't even close to coming out. She didn't have a front tooth for a year!
Yeah, sounds like you definitely overpay, for $.50 a tooth, my kids don't want their teeth to come out anytime soon!
Too funny. I was just stopping by for the details on the tea party! Luckily I don't have to hear about tooth fairy money just yet. When I was trying to get my three-year-old to stop having potty accidents, I gave him a dime in a little bucket for every good potty, took away a dime for every accident, and at the end of the week he usually had a chunk of change. Nothing like bribing for potties.
Oh my gosh, that's too funny. How quickly they learn how the system works!
And, you've been tagged for the Five Things Meme. I hope you'll play along. I'd love to learn even more about you! This is my first time doing one of these so I hope I'm doing it right! Here's the link
heehee. Oh, that's too funny. KIDS!
If only making money were so easy!
