Jane Austen, I love you....

*This giveaway is now closed*
I really do. You've stuck with me for years and have never failed me. I'm embarrassed to admit how many times I've read Persuasion and Pride and Prejudice. So I won't. But it's a lot.

For my tip of the day, I'm going to rate the works of my favorite ESSENTIAL romantic novelist, urge you to go re-read your favorite and then go pick up where I left off yesterday.

Pride and Prejudice and Persuasion are tied for my favorite. Sense and Sensibility, Northanger Abbey and Emma are tied for second, and when I need a little Austen in a short amount of time, Lady Susan works well.

If you'd like a copy of the Jane Austen Complete and Unabridged Collection, too, tell me if you love Jane Austen like I do.

Don't forget
to check in with my fellow Tea Party Hostesses for other great giveaways all week long.

Mannequin at Fractured Toy

Kathleen with Katydid and Kid

CanCan with Mom Most Traveled

Naomi with Superdumb Supervillain

*And for my Wordful Wednesday friends, we are still on for Wordful Wednesday tomorrow! It's a date. Dont' forget. :)

I've checked the books out of the library but I've never made the time to read them...sounds like I'm in good company here. I know the books have to be good for you to love them so much but how in the world do you get interested in them?

Brooke said...

Oh, I do!! I rediscovered my love of Austen after my stepdaughter was assigned Pride and Prejudice. She'd never read anything like it before so I helped her through it by reading the first few chapters out loud. It was fantastic!

I really like Sense and Sensibility.

I love Jane Austen.

I read Sense and Sensibility a looong time ago and Pride and Prejudice most recently. I'd say Pride and Prejudice is my favorite from the collection.
I'm afraid I'm more into Plath, Sexton and Kafka but I'd love to reconnect!
What a very appropriate giveaway for the tea and for you!

Okay, I have to say, I really am surprised at how many ladies have not read Jane! I know for me it is the "raising young children" project that has diminished my reading time, but this post just might be the inspiration they need to enlighten their days with Ms. Austen. They truly are timeless classics.

I am particularly excited to enter this give away due to the fact that there is no Public Library in Grants Pass!!! It's been closed since we moved here a year ago, I am going through serious withdrawals!

Thanks for the Tea Party Angie!

Oh and did I mention that I visted Jane Austen's grave when I was in my early twenties. At that time I had no idea how I would grow to love her and her books. I wish I could go back and redo moments like that now.

I have a lot of those "if I knew then what I know now... kind of moments.

Hi, just crashing the tea party to offer support.

S and S as well as Emma are tied for Austen favs. Though I am more of an E.M.Forster, Faulkner sorta gal if I am reading older novels and oddly, usually only read books written by women if they are newer titles.

Thanks for visiting my blog the other day.

I love Jane Austen. Her voice is perfect. I love how witty, funny, and deep her characters can be. It is hard to pick one, but it might be Emma just because that is the first one I read. Although Mansfield Park and P&P are fantastic. Once I fall in line with the language I often forget how long ago they were written.

Nope, not a Jane Austen fan, although I think it's the time period that irriates me rather than her writing. It's just so constrained back then and I just want someone to tell them to go to Hell.

I have a few actual romance writers I read, but when I just need distraction, I read Anne McCaffrey's Dragonriders of Pern series. I took it into the delivery room - both times. I don't dare pick one of her books up unless I've got a big chunk of time to read.
