Am I the Only One?

Whose children don't back to school for 2.5 weeks?

Every child possessing blogger I know is blogging about their kids having already gone back to school, or getting ready to go back to school this week.

Am I the only one whose kids don't go back until AFTER Labor Day?

And another thing. Am I a bad mother if I'm excited for them to go back to school?

We go back Monday. I am excited (bad mommy) I think that the summers have gotten shorter. I don't remember returning until after Labor day when I was a child.

I only WISH my kids didn't start until after Labor Day (like I did when I was a kid!)! Mine have been in for two weeks - it's ridiculous to start so stinkin' early!

Oldest goes back Monday.

Youngest starts preschool in another week.

No. No you are NOT a bad Mama. I'm excited too :-)

High School resumes here on Wednesday. Whoot! Why on a Wednesday? No idea.

you're not a bad mom! shoot! I bet they're ready for school, too. That's how it goes!
Here in Nebraska kids started school this week or maybe next week. Out in Virginia our boys don't go back to school until September.

We start a few days before labor day. Strange if you ask me. We go for three days and then have a long weekend. Wish they would just wait until after labor day. That's what means the end of summer for me.

And yes, I'm excited for my kids to be going back. Not because I want them gone but because we are all ready to have a normal schedule again. What and I going to do with only two kids at home?

We start here next week!

We have a modified year round school schedule, which means that we go back in the middle of July after a 6 week break. After 3 weeks, I was counting down until school starts again! If you're a bad mother, so am I!

My youngest doesn't start until the first. I am excited for her to start and excited for me to start something new. I don't think it's a bad thing.

We go back to school on Monday in central Florida. I am 50/50 on having them go back. I am looking forward to getting back into routine, but not looking forward to the homework and other stuff. Also, I need a little alone time, one week ought to do it! ;-)

That's funny.
I'm not sure if your a bad mother is your excited for them to start school. Ask me when most of my kids are school and I"m looking at the last couple of weeks of summer.
Then I'll tell ya.
Plus I've got so many reasons I'm a bad mother, if I condemn you then I"m in for it.

you're not the only one!! i'm so jealous of them! lol

school is good. very good.

My boys go back on Tuesday and I couldn't be happier. Well, maybe if they had started LAST Tuesday I would've been a bit more joyous. The summer is officially TOO long. They are pushing each others buttons as quickly as they can and it's getting on my very last nerve. Tuesday cannot come quickly enough here. You know it's bad when even the kids can't wait to go back....

Yes, you are the only one. And clearly a horrible mother.

;-)

You just verbalized the thoughts of a million moms. And one Dad.

See I told ya! :) I'm right up there with ya on the bad mom front...

Day after Labor Day for us too....of course the tax free school supplies weekend was two weeks ago, so I have $188+ worth of second grade school supplies in stacked WalMart bags in the corner of our bedroom. Classy!

You're not a bad mom at all, you're an honest one, which makes you a good one! ;)

LOL I have been counting the days till my kids go back!!!! No you're not the only one who is anxious for them to go back.

Mine start Monday! Yeaaaaahhhh.

Think it's regional. Ever since we moved out here to the East Coast I've thought it strange that the kids go back so early. In California, we always went back after labor day and college was even later (I went to UCIrvine, btw) we didn't go back until like th end of September. We don't really seem to get out much earlier though? Strange...

Our kids go back next friday (29th) for the eldest, and the other two start on 1 September.

As a child we never started back before 1 September.

Not sure when Labor Day is - I am from/in N Ireland!

Ugh. We just finished out SECOND FULL WEEK BACK :(

Dang, you are starting a little late! My kiddos go back Monday, so alot of people have told me I'm a little late in starting. Some people have already been back for like 2 or 3 weeks. I'm amazed by that!

Your lucky, I need more time to buy school supplies! :)

I know that the children here do not go back until after Labor day either. I have been seeing many children going back to school in the blogging world. I do not think it is wrong to be happy they are going back either.

♥ Oregon doesn't go back to school until after labor day alos but I'm sure you already know that! :)

but living MT now my kids start on MONDAY and I'm so excited! If it's bad for you to be excited about them going back then I'm in so much trouble because I'm so excited that I can't hardly stand it! :)

They started back on the 10th of August. Which is way early. I can't decide if I prefer them to go back early or get out later (now we get out the week before Memorial Day). But they are back. And it was time to celebrate!!

You are so funny, Angie! Mine started back last week and what happened? My oldest got sick and missed all but 1 day. Thanks a lot, right?

I am typically right with you on wanting them to go back. We're all usually ready, so it just feels right when the time normally arrives. But, this year, perhaps because of an usually wet June, it seems that summer hasn't been here long enough. I felt bad they had their outdoor playing time cut short with the other kids in the hood. They're excited, but I could have handled an after-Labor-Day start date for just this year :).

This is the first year our kids have gone back this early. They don't usually go back until after Labor Day but for whatever reason, the powers that be decided they would go early! At least the weather has been great!!

The kids here go back Sept 8th this year...always the day after Labor Day!

Now... I would be excited IF I weren't a teacher... I go back on the 31st! yippeee

Actually I am a seasonal person and am looking forward to change!

I know how you are feeling. All the schools in my area started on Thursday, but I chose the pre-K program that starts after Labor Day! I was looking forward to my son going back to school, but then I remembered that I am babysitting my baby nephew, so no big diff I guess.

Mine don't go back until September 1st. The first day of school in Israel is ALWAYS Sept 1st, unless it's a Saturday, in which case they start the next day (Sunday is a work day for us).

I'm so not ready for summer to be ending - we're not even back in the country yet. The kids and I don't fly out until Wednesday and don't arrive home until Thursday afternoon, then it's a long weekend to try and kick the jetlag and then back to school.

Ick.

I am with you. My son goes on back on Sept 3rd. We usually go back the Wed after Labor Day, but because the districts around here think Labor Day is late this year they are going the week before.

I wanted to also add, I am excited for them to go back to school, too. Ahhhh...quiet!

Jennifer said...

LOL! I have four more years till my little one can go to school. Am I a bad mother if I'm already counting down???

you may be the only one. LOL, but you are definately not the only one excited.

Kelly said...

Nope.

Jenna does private school and normally would have started back, but the school has moved and is still being built so it won't be until September 15th. This summer has been LOOONG.

Still loving your blog! I'm here - just don't always pipe up.

Yes, you may be the only one and NO, you are not a bad mother. Just try to enjoy your last couple of weeks of "summer!" : )

Ugh. My kids went back to school today and I'm hating it already. Who the hell wants to get up while it's still dark? Not I!!!

Justine :o )

Hayden doesn't start until after labor day too. I just want it to get here. I am so tired of thinking about it and worrying about it. Why can't Tuesday Sept 8th just hurry up.

2.5 weeks?? Wow! My kids would love that! But alas, I walked my baby into Kindergarten this morning and remarkably didn't shed a tear. He's so excited, how could I cry about that?

No, yo are not a bad mother! if you were a baad mom for wishing that there wouldn't be many good mothers out there.

HEAVEN'S NO GIRL! YOU AREN'T A BAD MOM FOR BEING EXCITED FOR THEM TO GO BACK TO SCHOOL! I couldn't wait! I have two that went back on the 12th and one started on the 18th and I AM LOVIN' IT! I must admit though sometimes I've gotten bored!!

The kids in our town also don't go back until after Labor Day. Hang in there! I don't think you're a bad mother, as I'd be excited about them going back too.

I didn't know there was still a place that waited until after Labor Day - but you aren't bad for being excited. We had a countdown at our house.

Luke doesn't start preschool again until Sept 11. I can't wait! The twins start the toddler program this year, too. I have to stay there with them, but I'm still excited for it to start. Next year I'll have Luke in Kindergarten and the girls in preschool. That sounds AWESOME! It'll be like a mini vacation for me EVERY MORNING! lol!
