For the past few weeks I've tried out having a prompt IF and only IF you would like to use it.

BUT, it's becoming more and more apparent to me that I don't do well with prompts if they are my own. So. I broke the rules and decided that Halloween pictures were more appropriate than sleeping pictures as Halloween draws near. You'll forgive me if I hold off on the sleeping prompt until next week, won't you?

This week the prompt was supposed to be: Sleeping. Kids sleeping.......you sleeping. Your dog sleeping. Totally up to you.

Instead, I made it "Ghosts Of Halloween Past".  Post pictures and descriptions of Halloween Past. This could be a memorable Halloween from when you were a child or simply a cute story and picture from past years. If you are contributing to this theme as an entry into the Flip camera giveaway please put an asterisk next to your blog name when you enter it into Mr. Linky.

A Halloween that stands out in my mind is one a few years ago...quite a few years ago where we had a family Halloween party and we actually all came in costume.  A few of my favorite costumes of the attendee's are shown below.

Ms. Piggy and Kermit the Frog.  Just in case you are wondering, Ms. Piggy is really a man and Kermit is really a woman.  Ms. Piggy has nice legs, doesn't she?

And Popeye and Olive Oil.  Perfection.

I never think of great costumes like these.  Sigh.  If you have any ideas for me for next year, I welcome your comments!

My question for the day if you would like another Flip Ultra HD entry is:  "What Halloween Prank would you like to capture with a Flip camera?"

These are so clever! I can never think of good Halloween costumes either. I've worn my hospital work scrubs for the past few years.

The Popeye and Olive Oyl one is great!! We don't really do much Halloween-ing around here, so I'm really missing out on all the fun!

Oh, I love the Ms. Piggy and Kermit the Frog...that's too funny! I'm looking forward to try 'sleeping' for next week because I completely forgot to capture it this week!

Love that Miss Piggy and Kermit picture!

Those are great costumes! I think you should fulfill my dream and dress your entire family up as the cast of The Wizard of Oz. I can do it with a few characters but you could do the entire main cast!

Jennifer said...

Hmmmm. Halloween prank.... I don't know. I never really participated in one before. I guess I would want to capture the one that was played on me so that I could nail the perpetrators.

Jen said...

I forgot to put the asterisk by my name in Mr. Linky. Can I still have my five extra entries? Please?

Jen said...

Now for my real comment. I am not very good at the whole costume thing but if I have have to go to a costume party I would want to be 'Cloudy with a chance of rain'.
I would wear a gray sweatshirt with cotton balls glued on. I would carry a spray bottle and when ppl asked me what I was I would spray them as I told them. I would also LOVE to have the Flip camera to capture the whole thing. It would be AWESOME! ;)

Unknown said...

I love the costumes. I need to get in the mood but I am not really a Halloween person. I do it for my baby - because who wants to miss out on an opportunity to dress their child up?

Honey Mommy said...

When we were younger we used to toilet paper people's houses. I think that would be fun to capture with a flip!

Lindsay said...

Classic old pics! And I just like plain old jump out from behind the door and scare the tar out of kids! I'm mean like that...

I've always wanted to go to a party and go and Bonnie and Clyde.

I forgot to put the ** by my name...oh well.

You ever seen when someone sits on the front lawn in a chair dressed as a scarecrow and everyone wonders if he's real, and when someone finally goes up to see and they get the wits scared out of them....that's what I would capture on Flip

The Ms. Piggy and Kermit cracked me up. I have no good suggestions for costumes, since Scott and I don't dress up. I think the last costumes we had were a witch and greek God. haha

Sera said...

I think the Kermit and Miss Piggy has got to be one of the most creative and hilarious costumes I've seen, especially since Miss Piggy is actually a man in your picture. And yes, she has lovely legs. :)

KatBouska said...

For a minute I thought you were going to tell us that YOU were Kermit...maybe next time. ;)

LOVE Olive Oil! My dad use to make me watch Popeye and had me convinced that spinach would make me stronger. Still believe it to this day!

I love scaring trick or treaters! Every year my brother climbs into our tree in the front yard of our house and drops these large over sized spiders my dad made a few years ago down on them. That would definitely be the prank I would get on tape. I'm so sad I'll be missing it this year!

Colette S said...

This will be my second time participating in Halloween. I don't know how to make my own costumes! lol

These are very interesting and works well. Yes Ms piggy has nice legs. LOL!!!

I would love to capture a good scare setup....which happens a little differently, but it's always completely priceless! The jump. The scream. The punch received by the person responsible. Yeah, I need that on film. :)

Timbo said...

Most likely, that would be on Halloween night, having me hide in the bushes at my girlfriends house and JUMPING out at passersby/trick-or-treaters, hopefully with hilarious results :)

I LOVE the Popeye and Olive Oil! Why can't I ever think of stuff like that?

As for a prank, anything where someone gets totally startled scared resulting in my hysterical laughter---for some reason other peoples fright is hilarious to me!

I'm thinking this year I'll either be white trash (wear a trash bag) or Holy Sh*t (wear all brown and a halo).

I would love to catch my son "Booing" our neighbor on film. It has become a Halloween tradition in our family to leave a little basket of goodies for our neighbor, ring the doorbell and run! My son uses it as an excuse for some kind of covert military strike complete with camo clothing.

I'm not much of a prankster... does putting the guinea pig inside of a jack o lantern for a photo op count as a prank?

The Black Sheep said...

Hmm, halloween prank....I'd have to say that it'd be funny to get on video my hubby eating the kids halloween candy and them waking up, asking where it is, and him saying "I don't know...." We KNOW it's him!!!

Stacy Uncorked said...

Oh man I missed the prompt this week...I'm posting a Halloween costume thing tomorrow...that's me, always a day late and a dollar short! :)

If I had a flip, I would totally set up some sort of prank that would be dinosaur related to capture Princess Nagger's reaction to it. Or we'd figure out a way to scare Dada and get it on video. ;)

Shell said...

Those are great costumes. My brother and sil went as Popeye and Olive Oil last year and it almost caused a family feud when my younger brother made a snide comment about how much sil did NOT resemble Olive Oil. Yikes.

Serendipity is Sweet said...

What fun! I love Halloween. Couple's costumes can be so clever. It's been several years since I've dressed up, but I'd love to have a big costume only Halloween party.

Decking the house out with hidden spooks would be fun. Then just when everyone is relaxing with a nice cold beverage, I'd cue the spooks to pop out. That would be hilarious to capture on a Flip ;P

Jennifer said...

Brilliant costumes. I am not as creative!

I really love all of your costumes. I did the sleeping prompt and add some Halloween to it. Once I saw your prompt I had a perfect picture for a it. I can find another one for next week. Off to figure out what the Flip is...

Okay I feel so silly that I did not know this giveaway was going on. I am doing today's carnival with a twist.

jen@odbt said...

I'd love to capture the moment when there's a "scarecrow" sitting at the door and the unsuspecting child/teen goes up to get candy, then the scarecrow leaps up. Bwahh hahaha!

Ashley said...

The Halloween Prank I would capture on my flip would be the smallest kids going up to the door for candy at different houses and get scared when someone answers the door with a scary costume !

Patois42 said...

We have a very large "spider" that hangs from the ceiling. It is movement-activated, so anyone walking under or near it makes it move. I'd love to catch some of the reactions on the flip!

I would like to capture the pranks where something moves when you walk by it and scares the trick or treaters... but a nice scare, something friendly for the preschoolers too!

A prank? With three boys in the house and a goofy husband, I'll just be happy not to have the prank played on ME!

Michelle said...

I think it would be fun to catch some giggling teenagers TPing someones house....as long as it's not mine.

Gretchen said...

Hmm, a halloween prank... well, I know it's quite naughty but I've always wanted (but never had the nerve) to do the flaming-bag-of-doggie-poop-on-the-front-porch trick where you ring the doorbell then run away, and the person who answers the door stomps on it to put the fire out. That would be HILARIOUS. But I don't really hate anyone enough anymore to do that prank. It's kinda mean. But I would totally film it!!!

Anonymous said...

Awesome photos!

As for Halloween prank I'd love to have on video? pdaddy and I were saying that he would lie down amongst the tombstones we set up and when trick-or-treaters come up the driveway, he would SPRING TO LIFE!

Lori said...

On our front porch we put a scarecrow and just once I would love to switch the scarecrow out with a real person and scare the crap outta my own kids with the scarecrow grabbing them. Hubs and I have talked about this, but have been waiting for them to get older! I think it would be awesome to do! (And very YouTube worthy!)

I love those pranks where people look like their they fake on the porch holding candy, and then they jump up and scare people when they go for a sugary treat. I'd definitely want to capture that prank.

We tried to pull a prank on my hubs the other day, my son was all about it:) We did the whole rubberband around the sprayer nozzle on the sink, ya know when he turned the sink on to wash his hand it would spray him:) well he turned it on but only a little so no real spray, I would like to try it again and get it on video, my son thought it was SO funny.

Kelli @ writing the waves said...

Olive Oil! That's a crack-up. And Miss Piggy? hahahaha!

I'll have to come back later and post my prank. Have to think about that one.

Lisa said...

Cute costumes! I can't even believe Ms. Piggy found shoes that big to wear!

Pranks... that would have to be the old "scare crow" sitting on a chair with the bowl of candy on his lap that ***bwah ha ha ha*** comes to life when the kids grab for candy.

"What Halloween Prank would you like to capture with a Flip camera?"

Hmmmm thats a hard one.....I would have to say jumping out and scaring someone is funny...in a bizarre way. One year my son dressed as a monster and sat on the front porch pretending he was just a stuffed halloween decoration...omg did he scare some kids (and adults) that year...wish I would have had a Flip Cam back then!

I never come up with good Halloween costumes either. I haven't tried much lately though :)
