1. Store your opened chunks of cheese in aluminum foil. It will stay fresh much longer and not mold!
2. Peppers with 3 bumps on the bottom are sweeter and better for eating. Peppers with 4 bumps on the bottom are firmer and better for cooking.
3. Add a teaspoon of water when frying ground beef. It will help pull the grease away from the meat while cooking.
4. To really make scrambled eggs or omelets rich add a couple of spoonfuls of sour cream, cream cheese, or heavy cream in and then beat them up.
5. Expanding Frosting. When you buy a container of cake frosting from the store, whip it with your mixer for a few minutes. You can double it in size. You get to frost more cake/cupcakes with the same amount. You also eat less sugar and calories per serving
6. Reheating refrigerated bread. To warm biscuits, pancakes, or muffins that were refrigerated, place them in a microwave with a cup of water. The increased moisture will keep the food moist and help it reheat faster.
7. No More Mosquitoes. Place a dryer sheet in your pocket. It will keep the mosquitoes away.

fabulous tips! i knew about the frosting. but i am so trying the dryer sheet thing when the mosquitoes come around. maybe that is why they don't come around some people , stronger smelling fabric softener? how fabulous would that be?
thanks for sharing.
Great tips. I'll have to give a few of those a try. I can't wait to see if the dryer sheet helps with mosquitos.
When we went to mother/daughter campout weekend we put the dryer sheets in our pockets and didn't have any trouble with those nasty bugs!
My mother-in-law does the cheese and foil thing but I just thought it was for the lack of zippy bags! :) Thanks for the tips they're great...
Great tips. I am the weirdest person ever because I never get bit by mosquitos, seriously only had two bites my whole life (without spray). I will use the tip for my kids, there blood is super sweet. I will be trying many of these out.
Wow! YOu are a wealth of great information. WHy didn't you share all of your impressive knowledge before? I really could have used that dryer sheet tip last summer!
hi angie... i came over from "the auditions." and i'm sure glad i did. i've read your last 10 posts or so and enjoyed every one of them, and your sense of humor.
and thanks for the tips. i didn't really know a one of them.
Great tips! I can't wait to try the cheese one - it seems like I am always loosing the last quarter of the block to mold.
I'm loving this post! "Helpful hints form Angie"....this could be your claim to fame:)
As ever you are a fountain of knowledge. How do you find these things?
The only tip I had heard about was the dryer sheet (haven't tried it yet) - but the other tips were fascinating - WOW! I loved hearing these - thanks - Kellan (especially the frosting one - who'd have thunk it).
Aluminum foil? Really? What a great tip. I'll definitely try the dryer sheet thing to, because I am seriously the world's most effective mosquito magnet. If there is one mosquito in the entire hemisphere it finds me!
No way! That was great. Can't wait to try them!
Here's some I use a lot: static hair, rub a dryer sheet through it. Oily roots? baby powder. Oily spots on dark clothes? Ring around the collar? 409 kitchen cleaner.
You are my new tip guru! Gracie's birthday is tomorrow and I am so trying the frosting thing for her cake!! Woo hoo, more frosting, more mess, more Gracie fun!
Fabulous tips!!
Thanks for the tip about the frosting! I have been buying that whipped frosting, now I can make it my self!
The dryer sheet does work! It doesn't help with black flies though, no see'ums, whatever they are called. It smells much better than bug spray too!!
These are too cool, but I have to wonder about the dryer sheets one. Texas mosquitos get so big they could carry a small child away -- I wonder if there are enough dryer sheets in the world to take care of a South Texas Skeeter!
Ha! Love these.
Don't want to cry while cutting an onion. Put it in the freezer for 5 min. And try not to cut the root end if only using 1/2 the onion. That is the end that makes you cry.
I also like to keep a dryer sheet in the pocket of my suitcase. It keeps everything smelling like it just came out of the dryer and not musty like it has been on the airplane.
Love the other tips!
Great tips. Thanks.
Very helpful!
Hey Angie - Yes, my twins are also monoamnionic twins and when they were born they found that they had tied a perfect double knot in their cords and the doctor even said, "When these girls get to be 18, you need to take them to Vegas, because these are lucky babies." They had also torn one of the cords away from the placenta and it was hanging on by only blood vessels. They were taken by C-section at 36 weeks and if he hadn't decided to take them that day, I probably would have lost them both!! I didn't even know they were identical twins - let alone monoamnionic twins until they were born. They were 5 lbs. 1 oz and the other 4 lbs. 12 oz. at birth and only staying in ICU for 1 day and 2 days and we all went home after 5 days. They are a blessing and we even have pictures of that knot - I plan to post that story on their birthdays in April. Come back and tell me more about your twins. See you soon. Kellan
visiting from Kellan's..
I will definitely try some of the tips! The egs and frosting ones will be first.

Those are the best tips, I never heard of the first 2 and I will be whipping my frosting.
Wow. Great to know. Cheese is so expensive in NZ you don't want to waste even the tiniest bit. I'll have to try these things.
