What is it?
Well, we'll tell you what it is NOT... It's Not About YOU. It's about SOMEONE ELSE. It's our chance, each of us, to shine our light on someone else.
Huh? Whaddya mean?
We each spend a lot of time talking about ourselves and our lives, but we are also fairly GIVING people too...Tuesday's Tribute is a chance to talk about OTHER people, OTHER blogs, OTHER lives.
Now's your chance to shine your light on someone else.
This week, it's imperative that I tribute the bus boy for my table at Macaroni Grill.
He deserves it. In a big way.
We left......a huge, disgusting mess.
Not on purpose though. Let me get say that up front.
My kids all have hyperactive gag reflexes. Some more than others. Jacob just happens to be the worst, and always has. As a baby if he started coughing we knew. We just knew what was coming next. Every. single. time. he'd throw up.
A few nights ago Jacob found his own antics at dinner wildly hilarious.
We did too.
Until he started coughing.
And we knew. Disaster time. We were not mistaken. Call it parents intuition, or call it a lesson well learned.
He threw up again, and again and again.
And then, LUCKILY, it was time to go (we had even paid already).
I felt badly leaving the terrible mess on the table. We were all so embarrassed.
It's a funny thing though. As soon as I walked out those doors I was relieved. Relieved that he didn't throw up in the car. Glad actually that he had done it there.
And, I felt bad for that poor guy who had to clean up the mess. Honestly though, I don't think I felt badly enough because all I could think of was that I was so glad that I didn't have to.
So, thank you, bus boy at Macaroni Grill. You didn't deserve the treat that was left to you. I apologize. I really am repentive. Really.

Oh dear...I hope you left a healthy tip for that boy. I wonder if he is somewear tributing the your son..."this is for all the people who can't get to the toilet..."
Totally been there! #1 used to throw up in restaurants all. the. time. We got to the point where we'd clean and resume eating, no problem. Except people around us would suddenly have to leave. He still calls on it from time to time. Don't feel too bad 'cause he probably didn't even notice. They sweep that table mess into that sloppy box thing so fast the hardly see what's going in. And, if he did, it probably wasn't the first (or last) time he'll be cleaning up a random kid puke:)
I will do this soon. I am with my Mom right now. Next week I should be on a plane if my Mom does not need me anymore. I loved this story. Have a great day.
Ewwwww! Poor bus boy dude!
Am I off my rocker or is there no Mr. Linky?

Man, and I always feel bad if we leave cracker and bread bits all over the floor!
Our 3 year old is like this too. I always feel so embarrassed, even when it happens at a fast food restaurant. I'm sure that you making him famous by posting about him on your blog will make the bus boy all okay with the situation. :)
Both of my twins are still like this. If they have a bad cough or gag it comes up. Don't even get me started if they actually get a stomach virus cuz they throw up a lot a lot. It's awful and I, too, have learned the warning signs. Most of the time. Had it happen in airplanes, restaurants, cars... you get the idea.
haha! i don't blame you for feeling relieved!!!
oh my! I was like that as a child and grew out of it....so there may be hope that he will not be throwing up on restaurant tables as an adult :).
And I'm sure you left a handsome tip, no?!
Oh dear, that's awful. Poor kiddo!
We ate at Lone Star Steak Buffet when we were still out in VA. They brought us bread & Moose had told me he was hungry, so I fed him some. I didn't realize it wasn't normal bread, it was sourdough. Poor kid threw it up. Gross smelling and he was upset. So I took him to the bathroom to clean him up. Again, not realizing the bread was different, I fed him more awhile later when he acted better. Threw it up seriously 15 seconds after it was in his mouth. So I don't know if he is allergic or not, but we won't be feeding him sourdough any time soon. Yuck.
Oh no. I'd feel sorry for that kid too.
I can hardly do throw up on my own kids, let alone a strangers kid.
No way.
I'd pay someone else to do it.
That is absolutely disgusting! I hope you left a sizeable tip!
Ick! I can't imagine the look on his face when he got to the table! I hope the server tipped him out in a big way :)
omg!! so funny. i would have felt the same way. happy that it didn't happen in my car LOL.
UGH! I hope you left him a BIG fat tip!
I always feel so bad leaving a big mess behind. I'm sure they are used to it.
My tribute is posted on T Rex Mom and Dad Tales.
yep...we've sooooo done that! super cute, though.
Oh ewwwwwww! Macaroni Grill? They have paper over their table cloths though, right? eww! lol.
OMG, I can relate except when i happened to us, my oldest was about 18 months and it came from the other end. All over the high chair in the Lyon's restaurant on J Street in Sacramento. I was so humiliated. I cleaned it up as best I could with baby wipes, shoved them into the diaper bag and made a hasty exit. The kid couldn't help it, but it was a horrid experience.

We had that happen with our oldest daughter. We were in a Perkins somewhere in South Carolina and well, you know what happened. It was good timing because we were also leaving and I was soooo glad it didn't happen in the hotel room. So now we always call Perkins Restaurants Pukeins.
Oh my goodness I'm crying from laughing so hard. Just another joy of parenthood. I so agree with being relieved that someone else had to clean it.
Oh how awful!!! But like you said, better there than in the car where the smell would linger forever. Ick.
And good luck with your moving!
I'd completely forgotten my step-sister used to do that almost every time she coughed. Whoever was holding her learned pretty quickly to put her down at the first cough. Neither of her boys had that, though. Here's hoping for the soon-to-arrive baby sister.
