Destination Decided

and the winner is....(drum roll please):
CANCUN

Despite many, many comments to go to Cabo. With absolutely NO reason why. So, yes, I DO have a bone to pick with some of you. Why didn't you say why? But all kidding aside, there were two HUGE factors that made us decide to go to Cancun.

Yep, we are going away together ALONE for a week. A week. Our first time away together without kids since we've begun reproducing. The occasion? Our 10 year wedding anniversary. I'm beyond excited.

But I regress. I'm sure what you really want to know is WHY we chose Cancun. And I'll tell you. ONE: I've/we've always wanted to see the Mayan ruins. TWO: one can actually swim in the ocean there. From what I've read and heard, the beaches in Cabo are beautiful, but un-swimmable because of strong undercurrents. I want to swim in the ocean and snorkel. Plus, Cancun is in the Caribbean. Heat and Humidity. I'm fully planning on sweating out all the calories from food I'm planning on ingesting at the All-Inclusive 5 Star Resort we are visiting. I think I forgot to mention that the resort we are going to looked the greatest to me. And had the best traveller reviews. That's another reason.

So, now all I have to do is find at least one more bathing suit. Get a base tan, and get in shape. I'm going to try not to let that last one daunt me. Thinking positive thoughts here.

Oh I am SOOO Beyond jealous of you guys!!!!! Our 10th anniversary is next month and we are doing absolutely NOTHING. Yep.. NOTHING. The boys are in their separation anxiety stage right now. Just getting them to stop screaming at the sitters once a week is a major accomplishment!

Who are you getting to watch your kids?

Have a BLAST!!!

UGH! I'm so jealous!!! We are going to be lucky if we make it to Chevy's this year for our 10 year. I'm sure you will have an amazing time!

The reason I suggested Cabo is because it is a more laid back atmosphere than Cancun. But lets keep in mind that I haven't been to Cancun in more than 10 years and I know that they have really cleaned up their act. I have heard wonderful things about it! We nearly went there last year too. Anywhere in Mexico is FAB!

Your resort looks absolutely dreamy. I was only half kidding when I suggested that I stow away in your suitcase.

You will be looking like a hot mama for sure! Can't wait to hear all about it...well I suppose you can leave out a few details:) Nothin' like a romantic getaway with the hubby!

What a great way to celebrate 10 years of marriage! No need to tell you that you totally deserve a trip by yourselves and I'm sure you will have such a great time. I have never been to any of the places you were considering so I look forward to hearing about your thoughts on Cancun:) Sounds like all your reasons for picking it were good ones!

Hopefully when I am married for 10 years I will be able to afford to go on a trip like that. I hear you about not being able to do anything alone since we have had kids. I know my oldest isn't 3 yet but I dont even remember the last time we went on a "date". Well except for the temple in January but that is it. I doubt it will get easier to find a babysitter once these girls come. Oh well...Have a GREAT time!

Wow! Sounds great. Our 10 year anniversary was 2 months after Abigail was born so we didn't get away. In fact, remember that time you watched our kids over night? That was the last time we've gotten away. Doesn't look like it will be happening anytime soon either.

Have fun and take lots of pictures!

O.K. If I already didn't envy you for so many other reasons you have to go to the one place that Carl and I were going to go on our honeymoon, but alas we had not the funds. I hope you two have a blast!!! Soak up a lot of sun for me. Happy 10th!

You are going to have such a blast. I have been to Cabo and I was nice but I have heard better things about Cancun. I think it is so awesome that you are getting away alone for your 10 year. Life gets so crazy now a days and it is SO important to keep your marriage alive beyond parenthood.

I snorkeled in Maui on our honeymoon and had SUCH a great time. And the Mayan Ruins should be awesome.

What resort are you staying at? We stayed at a RUI all inclusive (I think that was it) in Cabo and was very impressed with their service. They have them all over. I highly recommend them for future travel :)

Have a blast.

Get in shape?! How long ago was that picture taken at your bday? it didn't look as there was much shaping to do.
Congrats on both the trip and 10 years.

Alright. I give. WHAT are you doing with your 5(!) kids? Leaving ours behind has been so heinous that we have stopped doing it altogether, and our vacations now equal less often with two rooms (so we get some privacy if you know what I mean...).

PS. I'm jealous that you get to do something so grand for your 10th, ours came and went with a small baby in tow. Maybe the 15th....?

If you don't at least TOUCH a surf board, I will dump hot surf wax on you next time we meet.

Not pleasant--trust me.

Have fun, and "don't drink the water."

wounds like so much fun!! i've never been to any of the 3 you asked about, and have not researched any of them, so i didn't feel like i could give a good opinion! you are going to have such a great time! i've always wanted to stay at an all-inclusive place, it seems really low stress!! you should post the website of where you are staying, so we can all be even more super envious!!

I've been to Cancun and you'll have a great time. Let's be honest though, a week away at a five star resort without the kids? Does it hardly matter where? The ocean is beautiful (though I got a rash under my suit from the high salt content) and the ruins are wonderful and interesting. Be careful of the sun...it is the worst at about 10am-12pm because that is the height of the UV period there. I got the worst sunburn of my life! Have a wonderful, wonderful time!
