I knew I had been inpatient WAY too long when...
1. I knew the housekeeper by name, she knew mine, but most importantly, she knew the boys names.
2. I had had EVERY nurse in the department at least 2-3 times.
3. The day the cafeteria forgot my yogurt I was MAD. The day they forgot to send my breakfast,I cried. The day the cafeteria forgot to send my breakfast AND lunch I was ready to go home.
4. I was better at putting the babies on the monitors than most of the nurses.
5. Taking a shower was THE highlight of my morning and the day a nurse didn't change my sheets while I showered was the day I almost lost it.
6. The nurses knew my babies by name, rather than baby A or B.
7. I had a schedule that I strictly adhered to. When things didn't go as planned I had to remind myself it was OK.
8. When my son cried when it was time to go. I thought he was finally showing that he missed me. Then I realized he was crying because he wanted to take home a stuffed bear.

First of all, this post puts into perspective how much longer you were "in" than me. I didn't go in until Oct. 20. God Bless you! I have a million "I knew I had been there too long when..." also. I may have to borrow this idea in a couple weeks. Amazing we made it through! I remember really getting to know you via hospital posts. Goodness that was a Godsend for me! So glad we are where we are now and still in touch!
Angie,
I can't imagine how hard it was for you to be away from your other 3 kiddos for that long. What a strong mama you are!
I agree with Casey, I can not imagine. I was in lock up for a while but not that long, and not away from other kids. Strong strong woman and mom.
Wow this post brought back memories! I knew my housekeeper on a first name basis too and she too knew my babies names as did all of the nurses. I knew most of my nurses families names!! I had a very strict daily schedule and also and got ticked when somebody threw it out of kilter, housekeeping, doctor, nurses....
I knew the menu, and Thursday was barbecued chicken and chocolate cake day! Saturday morning was biscuits and gravy!! I cried the day they forgot my chocolate cake and then I called and demanded they bring me some. They did! I could go on and on!! Ha Ha! I would do it again in a heartbeat for my precious girls!
